A) - "TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE"

The origins of Thai massage date back about 2,500 years. Thai massage is an ancient Thai bodywork system designed to unblock trapped energy and improve vitality by applying pressure along the body's energy pathways. It uses slow rhythmic pressing (with fingers, thumbs, hands, forearms, elbows, and feet) and assisted stretching.

This treatment improves blood circulation and energy flow as it relaxes tensed muscles and ligaments. Pressure points in the body are probed and kneaded. This is particularly beneficial for strained joints, stressed muscles and body aches. The treatment leaves you with a feeling of lightness of being.

In contrast with other types of massage, Thai massage is not practiced on a massage couch (bed) but on a special comfortable mat. The pressure is not applied directly to the skin and receivers remain fully clothed during the entire session. Special loose garments are provided for this treatment.

B) - "THERAPEUTIC (ADVANCED) THAI MASSAGE"

THIS TREATMENT IS GIVEN ONLY AS A SUPPLEMENTARY THERAPY IN COMBINATION WITH "TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE" (TMTR02 & TMTR03) & "HOT HERBAL COMPRESS" (THC02) TREATMENTS.

This treatment comes as a result of our advanced training at the "WAT PO traditional medical school in Bangkok. The knowledge we gathered can treat pain and misc. situations that include areas such as: the head (headaches, migraines), the neck, the shoulders (stiff shoulder), the arms (heavy and weak), the elbows (tennis elbow), the wrists (sprains), thumb and fingers, the hips, the thighs and knees, the ankles and of course the upper and lower back.

The techniques used are similar to those of Thai massage, the only difference being the persistence we show on specific points of the injured areas and of course the duration and strength of the pressure that we apply.

If necessary we may also use an ancient healing method called "TOK-SEN". This is performed with the use of a special pair of traditional wooden tools, which cause vibrations and help to unlock more successfully the energy flow through the body.

This full-body massage combines skin treatment and energy massage (two in one). The energy lines of your body are activated unblocking the energy from within. This is done by using essential oils applied by smooth movements mainly of the palms and thumbs. Classical Thai pressure techniques are harmoniously integrated in this session.

This therapeutic deep tissue massage incorporates many techniques, uses moderate to deep pressure and is adapted to the client's specific needs. Chronic patterns of tension in muscles, tendons and fascia are worked to restore the body’s optimum alignment and suppleness.

Thai Foot Massage originated in Thailand about 2000 years ago and is still practiced by monks in Buddhist temples today. The massage starts with a warm footbath and then continues with light pressure from the giver’s fingers, hands and a traditional wooden stick-shaped tool.

All parts of the feet & lower legs are included and it involves the use of special pain relieve creams and ointments. It is said to stimulate the activity of internal organs and thus is greatly beneficial for optimum internal health.

A COMBINATION OF TRADITIONAL THAI MASSAGE WITH ORIGINAL* THAI HERBAL COMPRESS

The herbal compress (or herbal ball or Luk-Pra-Khop) is made from a blend of many different medical herbs, each with their own unique properties. Typical blends include camphor, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, turmeric, tamarind among other herbs and spices. These herbs are wrapped in a muslin ball and heated with steam. Two compresses are then simultaneously applied to the body using specialized and distinctive movements.

Hot compresses are frequently used to address chronic problems, such as back pain and tendonitis and shoulder strain, as well as to increase the flow of energy; they are used in conjunction with traditional Thai massage.

Just like Thai traditional massage, there is no use of oils and the compresses are not applied directly to the skin (although it would be more beneficial). Again, the receiver remains fully clothed during the entire session in order to protect the skin from extreme heat and the pressure applied by the therapist. The essences have the ability to be easily absorbed by fabrics; this is why we provide our own set of loose garments.

It is perhaps the most wide spread massage signature treatment in the western world. Swedish massage did not originate in Sweden, nor was it created by a Swede. Instead, this massage is referred to almost universally as the "classic full body massage."

Basically, this technique is applied to the entire body in order to loosen sore joints and relieve muscle tension and pain. It stimulates blood circulation and improves the quality of the skin.

What makes Swedish massage unique from the other massage techniques is that it involves five major beneficial strokes: effleurage, petrissage, frictions, tapotement, and vibrations. Although each of these strokes differ according to their movements and target points, all of them are developed to promote an ultimate feeling of wellness.

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils (plant essences) to bring about a state of well being by relieving stress and promoting vitality.

Aromatherapy was used extensively by many ancient civilizations including the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Chinese and Hindu valley tribes for beauty, health and ritual purposes. Today we use aromatherapy for much the same purpose. There are various means by which aromatherapy can be utilized, massage, being the most common.

In our treatment we use a combination of soft and gentle massage strokes with deeper Thai pressure techniques which are harmoniously integrated in the session.

You can choose from our blends of pure essential oils to calm the nerves, detoxify the body, nourish the skin and rejuvenate the spirit. Uses of these enchanced therapeutic oils trigger the senses and eventually bring internal balance and healing. It is highly recommended not to wash off these oils immediately after the treatment, since their effect lasts for many hours after the massage.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic patterns of muscle tension (known as knots or triger points).

Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. We use slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles , tendons and fascia (cross-fiber technique).

Hot stone massage is a variation of classic massage therapy. It originated in the USA a couple of decades ago and was practiced in famous Spas. As a result to its ever increasing demand, this treatment became very quickly one of the most popular massage therapies worldwide.

Heated smooth, flat stones are used on the body in combination with traditional massage movements. The stones at some point will be placed at specific body areas (charka points) that are thought to be energy centers, in order to balance body and mind. Some of these areas include the back, the palms and fingers, or even between the toes.

The hot stones are usually made of basalt, a type of rock that is rich in iron, so they retain heat. The stones are immersed in water and heated in an electric heating device until they are within a certain temperature range. The massage therapist always holds the stones first before bringing them in direct contact with the client's body. This ensures that the temperature will not be too high.

The heat loosens and relaxes the muscles, which allows the therapist to apply deeper pressure if desired. The warmth of the hot stones improves circulation and calms the nervous system.

A Combination of Western and Eastern techniques (Chinese & Thai) applied on both hands and feet. Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger and hand techniques. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect a projection of the entire body system on the feet and hands.

Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, it wasn’t until 1913 that Dr William Fitzgerald introduced this therapy to the West as ‘zone therapy’. He noted that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone.

In the 1930’s Eunice Ingham further developed this zone theory into what is now known as reflexology. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

Reflexology therefore is a complementary therapy, which works on the feet to help heal the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms.

Lymphatic Drainage is a specialized massage technique designed to activate and cleanse the human fluid system. Because the lymphatic system itself is responsible for optimum functioning of bodily fluid circulation and immune efficiency, Lymphatic Drainage is a key to maximizing our natural ability to rejuvenate and to establish resistance to stress and disease.

Lymphatic drainage was initially developed in Europe in 1932 by Dr. E. Vodder and the technique he presented was named "Manual Lymphatic Drainage". By the late 60's this technique established the credibility necessary to be taken seriously by the medical profession. Today MLD is widely practiced throughout Europe and is so highly recognized in the medical field, that doctors now commonly prescribe these treatments.

This massage method applies light skin manipulation that uses no oils or powders. Using gentle pumping and stroking techniques, it drains away pockets of water retention and trapped toxins.

Some benefits of MLD also include the gradual fading of old scars and its ability to facilitate the filtering of microscopic waste products away from our circulation. It also helps to drain harmful toxins out of our system and to fight against infection generating agents such as bacteria, germs and viruses, thus helping in the reducing of swelling and inflammations.

Due to the importance and the direct impacts this treatment has to the human body, it is very important to take all the necessary measures in order to avoid any negative effects. Before accepting MLD, a receiver should consider to discus openly his medical history with his therapist.

In some cases of serious diseases (cancer, thrombosis, heart problems etc) MLD must be avoided! Even a simple fever can get worse, since MLD will help and not prevent the spread of the infection. Therefore before considering this treatment, doing a medical checkup is highly recommended. For more information about precautions and contraindications please read here.

In short we can pinpoint the three main actions that are triggered from MLD therapy (when applied to a healthy individual), these are:

- The stimulation of body fluid circulation, thus increasing the absorption of excess fluid and waste products from our system,

- The empowering of the human immune system,

- The stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system (relaxation effect, antispastic effects, muscle tonus etc), making it one of the most relaxing treatments available. Perfect for stress and pain control.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage in a few words is a key to maximizing our natural ability to rejuvenate and to establish resistance against stress and disease.

MLD must NOT be performed (or performed with caution) in case of:

Malignant tumors, acute inflammation (caused by bacteria, viruses etc), thrombosis and phlebitis, major heart problems (Absolute Contraindications).

Asthmatic bronchial attacks, tuberculosis, near moles, menstruation (avoid abdominal area), low blood pressure, treated cancer (Relative Contraindications - Precautions).

SHOULDER - BACK - NECK - ARMS

Chair massage or seated acupressure is usually a 20 to 40 minute massage given to a seated client on a ergonomically designed chair. The client is fully clothed and this treatment often takes place at the workplace hence the term "on-site".

No oils are used in this therapy and it is a hybrid of a modern day massage, and the ancient Oriental arts of shiatsu, anma and Thai massage. The massage is based on acupressure and points are manipulated using thumbs, elbows and knuckle pressures along the major meridians that are accessible on the back, arms, hands, neck, head and legs.

Our program lasts approx. 45 minutes and we do not use any special chairs. The techniques we apply have been demonstrated for centuries when these chairs where not even invented nor were necessary.

We also offer this treatment in combination with our foot massage programm (TMF02).

Gift Certificates are a fabulous idea for a gift to your friends and loved ones. All you have to do is purchase a certificate of your choice and offer it to your friends as a token of gratitude, respect, friendship or even love. You can purchase certificates at our office; all you have to do is decide about the amount you're willing to spend. The rest leave it up to us.

In case the beneficiary selects a treatment of less value, the difference cannot be reimbursed in cash. It can be used though to purchase another service (on site) or in order to purchase another Certificate.

Our Gift Certificate is strictly personal and can only be used by the person whose name appears on the coupon. This is to ensure that the beneficiary (even if he or she looses it) will be able to make use of his (or her) privilege in any case. A simple comparison with our files will do the job.

You are not obliged to give us the name of the beneficiary up front. This can be done at a later stage but not later than ten (10) days from the date of purchase. So in case the person you had in mind cannot make it, you have all the time needed to find someone else instead. After this of course we won't be able to accept any amendments.

In the unlikely case that our pricelist changes and the Certificate don’t cover the minimum charge even for our most economic service, we guarantee that there won't be any additional charge. The Gift Certificate though is not suited to cover treatments that are much more expensive than the original value of the Certificate itself. But as we mentioned before it can be upgraded with an additional payment.

The Gift Certificate should be used within one year from the date it was issued. After this period, the coupon will not have any value and of course it cannot be refunded.

The Gift Certificate will be a printed double ended coupon, each part will be identical. One will be given to you (our client) and the other half stays within our files. Each and every Gift Certificate we issue will have a unique reference number, it will mention its' value in Euro and (in most cases) the name of the beneficiary written on it.

Our future plans include the launching of training programs and seminars for individuals and groups (in English and Greek).
